Sanjūsangendō Temple

After zipping down to Kyoto station and a quick squiz at Kyoto tower we jump in a cab for the short trip to Sanjūsangendō Temple. The main hall here is about 800 years old and contains 1000 golden buddhas. It is an extraordinary sight. Unfortunately you're not allowed to take photos or video. The monks reserve the right to check your camera when you leave. I don't think I've ever been somewhere with so many "Do not take photo" signs. The hall is quite large too. It is probaby 100 metres long. Michelle bought her fortune for 200 yen is it was "Most Fortunate". You then take the slip of paper outside and tie it to a fence so that your fortune comes true.
