Nanzen-ji Zen temple and gardens

Nanzen-ji was the last stop on the Philosopher's Walk and is a large temple and gardens complex. I think it is supposed to be one of the most important Zen Buddhist temples. Which reminds me, I haven't had anyone come up to rub my belly for luck. Maybe I'm not as Buddha like as I thought. When you arrive you're confronted by a monstrous gate at the entrance and beyond that are the temples and gardens. Shoes have to be removed to enter the buildings but, as can be see below, if you have to make a bathroom break slippers are provided. I hope nobody dripped on them before I used them.
