Breakfast and then we're off to Kyoto baby

Sadly we had to leave Tokyo today and the very comfortable Hotel Monterey Ginza (I threw in a picture of the hotel and hotel lobby below too). After we have some toast and coffee for breakfast at Doutor that is. Breakfast done we headed to Tokyo station to catch the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto. Shinkansen get up around the 300kph mark. That is almost 200mph. The ride is quiet and smooth but there is no way of hiding the fact that you're moving along faster than a bad curry moves through... er... I think you know what I mean.
There's plenty of room on the Shinkansen and the bathroom facilities are top notch. Plenty of room in there. There's even free WiFi on the train if you belong to the right phone companies - I couldn't quite figure that out. The signal was strong but I didn't have the password. Blogging at 300 kay would have been sweet. Two and half hours later we roll into Kyoto. That is 520km. It would take 6 or 7 hours to drive. Fudge these trains are fast. It costs something like $160 for a one way ticket.
