Thai Pothong

After the pub we toddled off down King Street Newtown looking for a feed. Thai was the preference. It wasn't long before we found Thai Pothong. A sign in the window says they've won the award for Sydney's best Thai restaurant for the last 4 years running. That'll do me.

First things first and that is why we knock the top of a Singha, a Thai beer. Jasmine went for coconut juice.

We decided on a selection of entrees. I push for the stuffed chicken wings. The availability of stuffed chicken wings is a 50-50 proposition. Some Thai places serve it and some don't. I grab it when I can get it. I love the crispy wing stuffed with the juicy meaty stuffing. The wings here are very very good.

Thai Fish cakes (Tod Mun Pla)

Deep Fried Calamari (Pla Muek Tod)

RED PUMPKIN CURRY (GANG PHUKTHONG )

Panang Curry

CHINESE BROCCOLI WITH CRISPY PORK (PAD KANA MOO KROB)

Pad Thai

SOFT SHELL CRAB STIR FRIED WITH BLACK PEPPER SAUCE

Not pictured was HERBAL PORK KNUCKLE (KAR MOO TOD). Deep Fried Herbal Pork Knuckle, pickled Vegetables, served with Green Chilli Sauce & Sweet Soy Sauce.

After paying we're given a $10 gift voucher to use in the restaurant's gift shop. Yes, a gift shop in the restaurant. No need to go to Thailand for souvenirs.

Thai Pothong is at 294 King Street Newtown.
