1984 metres

Well not quite 1984 metres. The ropeway takes us to within 1 or 2 hours hike of the summit Mount Kurodake which is at 1984 metres. I'll be fracked if I'll be doing any mountain climbing today, especially with all the avalanche warnings posted everywhere. There is a ski run up the top here and to do that you need to take the ski lift up another few hundred metres. Unfortunately the ski lift is only open to boarders and skiers and not walkers (we're not skiing today but the cable car station at the top here has ski gear hire) but it was worth a look to see a ski lift running with maybe 3 people on the mountain using it. The powder here is fantastic. No, not Colombian marching powder.
I should mention all this is in Daisetsuzan National Park.
