Seeing as Aunty Dob is here for a few days we may as well make the most of it and go somewhere decent for lunch. Sopra isn't far from work, for me, and not far from home for the girls. A convenient walk it is but I'd even take a long bus ride to eat here. Always so fresh and delicious. My sweet tooth craves the merengata (formerly known as the Eton Mess) - chantilly cream, meringue and strawberries. Georgia now has the taste for it and I have had to learn to share. Funny what you discover when you do research. Apparently the meringue was invented by an Italian chef in the Swiss village of Meiringen. Interestingly the meringue in the form of pavlova is the Australian, and NZ, national dessert. This merengata is essentially a smashed pavlova. I love pav.

Porteño
Aunty Dob is visiting this weekend so we had to take her somewhere that serves something better than the muck they dish up in Melbourne. So where better than Porteño? Porteño has become one of the hottest places in town and, conveniently, it is one of the closest restaurants to our place. We'd travel a lot further to eat there though. A lot.

Kenji
Kenji is a sushi bar under the Opera House fore court. Most excellent sushi it is too. Some of the best we've had in Sydney. Georgia devoured the seared salmon sushi and ended up having more than one.

3 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake
Amazingly easy to make chocolate cake in a mug. Unfortunately I think I nuked it for slightly too long so it had the consistency of rubber. It has potential and I may try it again.

Georgia is 8 and half months old this is her first time on the grass in the park. She's almost crawling, but not quite.

Steak Tartare
Michelle's steak tartare. It's just raw steak and an egg right? Heh. This is a finely chopped fillet steak with herbs, onions, oil, toast and a quail egg. The meat is ever so buttery and delicate. This was as good as any from a classy French restaurant. I live with a Three Star Chef.

Sparkadia at the Metro
Pop music at its best. A strong performance of some really catchy, IMHO, tunes. I love Talking Like I’m Falling down Stairs and China. Even the semi-religious Mary is deadset dancey and infectious. I had a very cool albeit solo night out.
Here's a review from FasterLouder.
